General Summary:

The Floor Coordinator is a vital position to the flow of access and ensuring consumers are seen and staffing is maximized.   

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates all activities in Access to ensure consumers are seen within timelines
  • Maintains active knowledge of all Access activities going on at any moment during business hours
  • Monitors cameras and assists in monitoring safety of staff and consumers
  • Answers non crisis line calls, ensures crisis line is staffed by a clinician
  • Is able to problem solve coverage issues
  • Uses critical thinking skills to ensure the floor runs smoothly
  • Maintains daily schedule of staff working Access each work day
  • Sends out daily schedule before 8am to all appropriate staff being sure to keep front desk well informed.
  • Ensures daily schedule accounts for coverage of the following at a minimum: Scheduled intakes, walk ins, 24 hour re-evals/pre-screens, hospital & CRU discharges that need an intake, call back que, crisis line, wait list, ADOS/ADIR assessments, Triage, placement, school requests for intakes, and follow ups to no shows
  • Maintains supervisor and staff on call schedule at least 3 months in advance
  • Ensures Supervisor have dedicated time for supervision with staff
  • Assigns coverage during clinicals and team meetings
  • Be able to prioritize walk ins, hospital requests for evaluations, and scheduled appointments
  • Be liaison between front desk and clinical staff
  • Be able to take charge of the floor and direct staff
  • Track and manage data needs such as but not limited to peer reviews, satisfaction surveys, SEDW, contract requirements or department needs
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Ensures a daily schedule is produced at least by 8 a.m. each work day.
  • Ensures on call schedules are maintained 3 months in advance
  • Demonstrates customer services expectations 100% of the time
  • Complies with Corporate Compliance procedures and Recipient Rights procedures 100% of the time.
  • All mandatory trainings are completed by their due date.

Required Education/Certification/Licensure:

  • Associate degree
  • CPI non-violent physical crisis intervention training, upon hire.
  • Mental Health First Aid Training, upon hire.
  • Must have reliable transportation*


* LifeWays vehicles are provided to employees for the purpose of transporting consumers; employees must possess a valid MI motor vehicle operator's license and verification of an acceptable driving record.  Personal vehicles may be used for company business when drivers meet the following; valid MI motor vehicle operator's license and proof of personal vehicle insurance in accordance to guideline.
