General Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Information Technology, the Systems Engineer II implements and supports all aspects of the organization's systems infrastructure, with a maintained focus to enhance productivity and efficiency of LifeWays' automated systems operations. This position establishes, develops and executes new technology initiatives and performs growth analysis and capacity planning. The Systems Engineer II develops and implements strategic systems recommendations as they impact LifeWays; performs related work as directed, with LifeWays staff, network providers, and vendors while upholding policy and procedures and maintaining confidentiality.

Essential Functions:

  • Installs, configures, upgrades and maintains Windows Server environment and critical information technology infrastructure, including physical servers, virtual servers and SANs.
  • Provides technical assistance and support for applications/hardware problems and information sharing with external entities in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • Administers Microsoft Exchange, email, spam and virus protection.
  • Performs Identification Management for Active Directory users, email access, Office 365 and other systems requiring user access.
  • Analyzes and evaluates new products for compatibility with current infrastructure, identifies design and performance opportunities and provides sound recommendations to the Director of Information Technology.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting and monitoring routines during normal daily activities to identify, trace, and isolate system problems. Coordinates these efforts with team members and maintains an open line of communication concerning system modifications.
  • Installs, configures, maintains, and assists in testing and upgrading new and existing hardware/software, systems and basic networking components.
  • Assists in maintaining an asset management system to track information technology utilization within the agency.
  • Maintains an excellent customer-service orientation, responds to service desk requests in a timely manner, and provides a resolution that meets the customer's need.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of the service desk procedures through a performance measurement system.
  • Protects LifeWays equipment, software, financial, intellectual and systems information through confidentiality.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Mental Health First Aid Training, upon hire
  • Must have reliable transportation. *

*LifeWays vehicles are provided to employees for the purpose of transporting consumers; employees must possess a valid MI motor vehicle operator's license and verification of an acceptable driving record. Personal vehicles may be used for company business when drivers meet the following; valid MI motor vehicle operator's license and proof of personal vehicle insurance in accordance to guideline.

Preferred Education / Certification / Licensure

  • Certification MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate).
  • Certification VCP (VMWare Certified Professional).
