General Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the Supervisor, OBRA, the OBRA Coordinator authorizes and monitors mental health services based on eligibility and medical necessity criteria for Medicaid and indigent populations in Jackson and Hillsdale counties. This individual incorporates LifeWays' mission, vision and values into every decision-making process.

Essential Functions:

  • Exercises independent judgment and decision making in determining the on-going eligibility of consumers for public mental health services and supports.
  • Authorizes mental health services for adults within the Provider Network based on medical necessity criteria.
  • Complies with the requirements of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA).
  • Manages calls from nursing homes, hospitals, and community providers, as assigned.
  • Obtains and enters data into the OBRA database.
  • Conducts OBRA assessments, writes evaluations, and makes final recommendations for eligibility and service needs for the OBRA program.
  • Assists in completing monthly billing to MDHHS, as assigned by the Supervisor, OBRA.
  • Conducts site visits to nursing facilities, hospitals, residential facilities and LifeWays provider sites to provide training, develop collaborative relationships, and as needed.
  • Assists with training for and monitoring of OBRA activities within the LifeWays Provider Network.
  • Responsible for adherence to all Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and MDHHS standards.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Required Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP) or Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) or Fully Licensed Psychologist (LP) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Limited Licensed Bachelor Social Worker (LLBSW) or Licensed Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW) or Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW) or Master's of Nursing with certification in Psychiatric Nursing, or Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • Appropriate licensure with the State of Michigan.
  • Credentialing requirements for ongoing clinical privileges with LifeWays.
  • CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention training, upon hire.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Preferred Education/Licensure/Certifications:

  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW).
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Training.
